Top Picks from Hendersonville Produce, A Local Natural Foods Market

When it comes to local, fresh, healthy options, it’s hard to beat your local produce shop or farmer’s market. Here in Hendersonville, we’re lucky to have the fabulous Hendersonville Produce that sources an impressive selection of items from local growers and artisans. Here are a few of my favorites—make sure you stop in and check them out! You might even see a friendly face as they have recently started carrying my Nutritions & Delicious Cookbook!

  1. Healthy-ish Seasonal Goodies! In fall that means pumpkin-all-the-things, but the display table in the front of the store is constantly being updated with the newest items.

  2. Pre-made salads for grab and go lunches AND for busy weeks. With clean, simple ingredients, a great source of protein & veggies and DELICIOUS, these options keep me on track. Their chicken salad is a top favorite - I love to put it on an Ezekiel or Siete tortilla, on top of a salad, or just with fresh veggies and crackers.

  3. Organic Cacao Nibs. This superfood is packed full of antioxidants (40x more than blueberries). Perfect to throw in your smoothie or mix with mini chocolate chips for a delicious, low-sugar dessert.

  4. Fresh in-season produce from local farms. Eating in-season produce is a great way to maximize the quality of nutrients you’re receiving, and a local produce spot makes it easy to learn what’s “in season” in your area.

  5. Wild Alaskan Salmon. Most of us don’t get enough Omega 3 in our diet; wild caught salmon is a great (and delicious!) way to enjoy it!

  6. Local homemade sourdough bread. No fillers or preservatives, pure goodness (and no maintaining a sourdough starter in your fridge required!)

  7. Healthier cracker brands. I like to grab both the Jovial and Mary’s Gone Crackers brands; these are perfect for snacking or to top with your favorite protein for a quick & healthy lunch.

  8. Jeni’s ice cream. Sure, you’ll find better quality ingredients than most other ice cream brands but also, let’s keep it real—it’s also delicious. If you’re going to indulge, I’m firmly of the mindset to make it the best!
