My Favorite Local Fall Hikes

As soon as the temperature drops and the leaves start to change, I feel an itch to hit a local walking/hiking trail. We’ve been lucky this year to enjoy weeks of fantastic fall weather here in Middle Tennessee, and I’ve taken full advantage by spending lots of time outdoors on area trails and pathways. Here are a few of my favorites!

  1. Here in Hendersonville, we’re fortunate to have a greenway with miles of paved trails. The section that starts near Memorial Park is practically in my backyard, and I visit it regularly. Starting from the section behind the Hendersonville Library also always makes for a pretty walk, run, or bike ride.

  2. When I have the time to venture a little further from home, my all-time favorite park to visit is Percy Warner Park. I love the trail running options, but they also have great paved sections for the less adventurous runner. Plus, it all connects to the iconic Belle Meade Blvd. which is such a beautiful part of our city to explore!

  3. Radnor Lake is another crosstown favorite. It can get super crowded on the weekends, but the path around the lake is a perfect midweek jaunt.

  4. Beaman Park in Ashland City offers more than 15 miles of trails through a densely wooded area. There’s a great three mile loop that’s perfect for a family adventure (complete with a creek crossing!).
